Our Story

It’s not that complicated (or interesting for that matter).

I (Katy) am a Barn Mom and a baker. It hit me around July of 2024 that I hadn’t seen horse treats decorated in the same fashion as the cookies I was beginning to be noticed for. Apologies for the hanging preposition.

A local horse show* allowed me to put up a table and a tent, and it went pretty well.

Friends and family were supportive, so I decided to make a go of Custom Horse Treats (and I was really surprised that the .com domain was available).

I make the treats with Bob’s Red Mill Gluten-Free Whole Grain Oat Flour and molasses - high quality ingredients because my daughter’s horse eats them and because, honestly, it’s the right thing to do.

If you are reading this page, I guess it’s still going!

*thanks, Team NW!

Hester produces fresh, organic produce from local farmers in New York. Even our spices are fresh. Just because pickling is a preservation process doesn’t mean you can use dried-up thyme or week-old asparagus that’s already a little spongy.

We want to give our customers crisp, crunchy and delicious pickled vegetables and fruits. Most of all, we want to expand people’s palates and prove that pickles don’t always come in a green or red variety.
